November 2025 trip
Lake District, England
It’s time for another possibly ill-advised solo trip.
And, it’s at a bad weather time of the year for heading to England. I’m going to the area that receives the most rainfall in England, the Lake District.
What could possibly go wrong?
Nah, it is going to be easy. First of all there are no wild animals; I don’t need a can of bear spray as part of my daily attire.
I am travelling ultra light with - shockingly - only a single camera and two lenses. I forgot to mention I’m on a photography trip.
I’ll be wearing the same clothes every day for 3 weeks to keep luggage weight low.
My roll aboard has been hijacked by a hefty pair of hiking boots. Little else will squeeze in. One set of clothes is for the outdoors, the other set that I wear to travel in. That’s it except for 2 spare t-shirts and some dainties.
In my camera bag there is my camera and lens, a tripod, some accessories and a top-to-bottom set of rain kit to wear. Weather is my challenge. I expect lots of rain. England’s wettest region in the wettest month.
Hmmmm.
BUT there is a rule in photography “bad weather makes great pictures”.
And, one other detail is that I’m still struggling with Long Covid. Crispy 90 year olds speed past me walking. I figure my slow pace will help me notice lots of photogenic details.
If you want to follow my suffer-fest, I’ll try to post here daily.
Expect the first post NOVEMBER 19TH
